Heyy everyone. I'm sos orry I've been M.I.A the past couple weeks. I've been insanely busy. I feel like I've abandoned you. I'm a terrible Blogger. Ugh. Sorry!
I'll be better, I swear!
Anyways, I've been so busy because.....
I'M IN NEW YORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm finally here!!!
And it's been amazing. So amazing. Oh my god, you have no idea how amazing this whole experience has been for me.
FIRST OF ALL, GUESS WHAT?!!?!?!?!
I preformed for the Head Executive in charge of Casting for Nickalodean, and guess what she said to me?!
She said I'm exactly the kind of girl they are looking for!!!! She said I'm a great actress, and she likes my personality! :D AHHHHH!!!!!!!
Holy cow. That is huge. I've been waiting my entire career as an actress for my big break!!!!!
This could be it!!!!!!!
And the head of Shooting Stars Talent Agency in New York told me I was funny, and he loves how bubbly and sunny I am when I'm onstage.
They have my headshots and resumes! They could call me anytime!
OMG I'm so excited.
So, this is how my weeks went.
By the way, the thing I'm doing is called Broadway Artists Alliance. If you are interested, you can Google it! (Google. NOT Bing. If you are going to Bing it, don't bother. Bing sucks. )
DAY ONE - MONDAY:
Orientation. All 100 of us kids meet & greet in the biggest rehearsal room, and get talked to about what to expect this week. Pretty standard stuff. I was a little scared, because I didn't know anyone. Oh gee. Poor little Serena, the misfit. The outcast. The shy little imp.
HAH.
No, I met a bunch of kids and became, like, instant best friends with them.(: I swear, we had some strange kind of connection. Brycie, Noah, Kyra, Maggie, Krysten, Ginnie, Lily, Max, Kelli, and Emily. My Broadway Buddies. :D !
See, my friends are great, but they just don't really understand my love of theatre. Its not that they dont support and encourage me! Because they do! (Especially Tiff <3>
So being surrounded by a group of people who share the same mutual love of preforming. The craving for the bright white hotness of the blinding spotlight as it shines in your face, daring you, CHALLENGING you to entertain it. The roaring of the crowd as they stand to congradulate you on a preformance well pulled off.
It's a feeling like no other.
I love it.
So, then we all had catered lunch. I was thinking something like cheapo burgers and fries or something.
NO.
It was amazing.
Like, chilled pasta salad, grilled paninis, fresh fruit, organic greens, and fresh squeezed lemonade. It was soooo yummy!!
Then, after lunch I had dance class. We learned the dance repitoire from Hairspray on Broadway.
DAY TWO - TUESDAY:
Audition! But nothing big. Just placement auditions. To see which groups we would be put into. I got put into Group A.
That took up the whole day, waiting for everyone to go.
Then, all us kids went to go see Wicked!!!!!!!
It was phenomonal. I swear I'm gonna play Glinda some day.
That night, me and my dad went out and explore the city.(:
We went shopping at Forever 21, H&M, Sephora, the M&M store, and the Hershey store. Then we went out to dinner at Planet Hollywood. An AMAZING restraunt full of old movie props and costumes and artifacts and stuff.(:
I finally got to sleep at like 1 a.m.
Hah.
DAY THREE - WEDNESDAY:
During the morning I had a class with the female lead of Jersey Boys! She was a FREAK. She was all about, like, inner peace, and coming in touch with your feelings and the color of your aura. She was bizarre. She made us meditate for like an hour. "Scouring our subconscious for our center of emotion." she called it.
But I swear to God it was the coolest thing ever. She seriously like put me under a spell or something. Randomly, she just told us to lay down on the floor and close our eyes. Then she just started reciting a lost of colors. And she said "whatever emotion comes up, just let it out."
And then... she said RED. And all of a sudden I was seriously in the worst pain of my life. It just came out of nowhere. It was like a razor sharp knife stabbing me in the gut. I started crying. And then I noticed that everyone else in the room was crying and gripping their stomaches too!!!! One girl even started screaming!!!
Then, all of a sudden, she said BLUE. And just like that, it all stopped. And everyone stopped crying. The pain INSTANTLY stopped. Like switching the lights on. It was the most amazing experience ever.
Seriously, I wish you could have experienced it too. It was fantastic. It totally changed me.
But at the same time it also scared me...
but it was so cool.
Wow.
Then, I had a dance class. That was SOOOOOO INTENSE!!!!!
By the end of the class, my feet were bleeding. It was a 4 hour class.
I learned so much! I learned more dance in those 4 hours than I have in dance class back home in months!
It was taught by the guy who plays Fiyero in Wicked. (:
Then I went home, texted Ryan and Taylor for a little bit, and fell asleep.
DAY FOUR - THURSDAY:
Cold reading class with the lead of the Broadway production of Phantom of the Opera. It wass pretty cool. He told me I'm a good actress :D
Then I met a couple casting directors and agents and managers from Hollyood and NYC in the afternoon, and talked with them a little bit.
Then a singing class. Then another dance class. Then straight to bed.
DAY FIVE - FRIDAY:
The showcase! :D I already told you about that. Then, I had to say goodbye to my friends :( They are all going back home. I'm the only one out of us who is staying for Session Two.
And that basically brings us up to right now!
So, I've been talking a bit about music lately. If you know me well, you know that I like obscure music. I don't really care much for modern rap songs and such. I mean, I love Eminem and popular music, but more than that, I like indie bands. Like, if someone asked me what my favorite band was, I would probably say Carbon Leaf or Switchfoot. And most people would be like Who the Heck is that?!
But, I encourage you all out there to expand your musical horizons. Please. Trust me. Just buy some new music!!!! You won't regret it!
What new music you ask? Well, I'll tell you. i just bought some great music.
