Now, I don't know about you, but I'm under some MAJOR stress right now. With finals and everything.
Is it just me, or does it seem like teachers all congregate at the end of the school year just to give us all more work and make out lives a living H-E-doublehockeysticks?
UGH. It's enough to make a girl wanna pull her hair out!
So, in light of the current stress that is weighing down on my shoulders like my 20 pound backpack, I'm going to treat you all to a lighthearted post.
Girls.... let's talk fashion.
*Chorus of squeals and air clapping in the background*
Thank you, thank you. Hold your applause.
;)
Okay, let me ask you this. Where do you girls like to shop?
Most girls our age would say Forever 21, H&M, Abercrombie, Hollister, the cliche`s. Maybe some of you are even lucky enough to afford the big-time designers. OR maybe some of you (*cough cough ME cough cough*) prefer the cozy, affordable, family-friendly vibe of Target. :)
Either way, facts are facts. We all need clothes.
Now, I hate to generalize, but most girls enjoy being able to pick and choose what clothes they like, determine their own style, and express themselves through what they put on their bodies.
So, now I ask you... where do you get your inspiration? Fashion magazines? The celebrities? Other girls your age?
Well, let me tell you something, little rascals.
Maybe you should try looking a little B R O A D E R .
And by that I mean... Internationally!
Now, introducing... Jack Wills!!! The ultimate teen clothing designer who happens to also be fabulously British (That's his motto, BTW.) Now, I know that not many people are fortunate enough to afford his stuff (300$ jeans?? really?) I know I certainly can't afford it. But, it's fun to look at some of his pieces, and figure out how to recreate them for less!
Just go to www.jackwills.com and check out his stuff. Then, pick a look you like. He has all kinds of stuff from modern to vintage to indie to girly to classic. You can even click on the "Get the Look" button and it will tell you exactly what clothes are in a selected outfit! Then, scoot your little selves on down to the nearest clothing store within your budget, and put on your creative caps! Trust me, it's not impossible to have a totally cute outfit just like the chic designer ones for half the price!
This is all part of my Redefining Beautiful movement, ladies. Remember? I personally think that labels are overrated. Sure, its fun to have a few designer pieces (what girl doesn't like to feel glamorous?) but you shouldn't let fancy clothes define who you are. If you are comfortable in what you are wearing, and comfortable in your own skin, then you can rock ANY look. Because you are all gorgeous. Inside and out. You better believe it.
Well, that's all for now! Sorry for the short post, but I'm going swimming. Time to get a head start on that summer tan! ;)
It's been a pleasure talking with you girls. I hope you do well on your final exams (if you have them) and your school year finishes strong! Keep moving forward!
xoxo,
Serena
I really liked reading this post! I loooove clothes, but I totally agree with what you mean labels shouldn't defy who you are. Good luck with exams!

I love Etsy!
ReplyDeleteCool stuff! I don't really shop anywhere in particular. I just by whatever I think is cute:) Hehehe. I do like Teen Vogue. Sometimes my family will send me handouts they pickup in the city (my dad's from NYC) that have cool bits of inspiration.
